Stonehenge
- "The great and ancient stone circle of Stonehenge
is one of the wonders of the world. What visitors see
today are the substantial remnants of the last in a sequence
of such monuments erected between circa 3000BC and 1600BC.
There has always been intense debate over quite what purpose
Stonehenge served. Certainly, it was the focal point in
a landscape filled with prehistoric ceremonial structures,
now a World Heritage Site." (
English Heritage)

Avebury
- "One of the most important megalithic monuments
in Europe is spread over a vast area at Avebury*"
"The stone circle is thought to date from around
2600BC, although the proper chronology of the site is
not completely understood by archaeologists...What remains
of the circle now is only a small proportion of what must
have been an awe-inspiring place when it was in use over
4000 years ago**" (*National Trust)

Lacock
- Lacock is a small, picturesque village that has not
changed in two hundred years. There are no aerials, overhead
cables or yellow lines and a walk through this magical
village will feel like walking back in time. The main
features of Lacock include the Abbey - one time home to
Fox Talbot, the inventor of the camera - the 15th century
Sign of the Angel, the 14th century Tithe Barn and The
George, possibly the oldest pub in Wiltshire.

Castle
Combe - Set in a wooded valley, Castle Combe is made up
of charming stone cottages that all have a picture book
prettiness and could be part of the reason it has been
voted the prettiest village in England. The village can
trace its origins to the middle ages, where a castle was
once situated (some reamins can still be found). Today,
the village is more famous for its many TV and film roles,
most notably for its starring in "Dr Dolittle".

Bath
- "Bath, England, is a unique city; its hot springs,
Roman Baths, splendid Abbey and Georgian stone crescents
have attracted visitors for centuries. Set in rolling
Somerset countryside, it is a beautiful and unforgettable
place to visit." (visitbath.org)
Silbury
Hill - Silbury Hill is a 4500 year old, man-made mound
and is the largest prehistoric mound in Europe. It is
an imposing sight standing 130 feet high (about 40 meters),
the base of the mound covers over 5 acres and the flattened
top is around 100 feet across. No-one yet knows its original
purpose, why it was built or how the construction took
place.

Longleat
Safari Park - "Discover the magnificent animals
which roam the first Safari Park outside Africa from the
comfort of your own car… see how you measure up
to a giraffe, watch out for the zebras crossing, wander
amongst the wallabies in wallaby wood and be enthralled
by the majestic lions and tigers!" (Longleat
website)
